Fires burn along river; rescue effort grinds on

As the struggle continued to rescue victims from floodwaters and evacuate people from New Orleans, two major fires raged along the waterfront Saturday morning.

There was no sign that the 50-to-60 blazes were being fought.
This is just stupid. These fires have the potential to cause a lot of problems in a very short time if they spread and spread. Where are water dropping planes/helicopters? The kind they use to fight forest fires. I can't believe no one is dumping water on these things. Such a simple solution that wouldn't pull resources from any other part of the search, rescue and policing but would go a long way in preventing another layer of catastrophe being added to these poor peoples lives.
