According to the link above, New Zealand did feel it. And it was a big one. No reports of property damage so far. "[the quake]would have devastated a city had it been much closer, according to a New Zealand seismologist."

After looking at the geonet.org site, I noticed that they have quite a problem with earth quakes there. They seem to have one every few days - sometimes have a few on a single day. The two links at the bottom take you directly to the results from the "big one".
